Bookstore Spotlight: Sundrop Books

Hello lovely readers! Sorry for the late posting but I am doing some traveling this holiday season. I will try to be more prompt…try being the key word! 🙂

Along with promoting small bookish businesses, I also love to promote indie bookstores. So this week, I want to shine a light on a new store I visited called Sundrop Books in Denison TX. 

As I walked through the doors, my first impression was light. Sun was shining through the front and back windows, the floor plan was open with plenty of room to roam. Throughout the store, there was comfy furniture that beckoned one to take a load off. The shelves had a mix of books that were well priced and varied as well as other cute merchandise. The store had tasteful touches of fall decor and I imagine the Christmas decorations will be cheery. 

I talked with one of the owners, Taylor, along with her adorable dog Akana, to learn more about this wonderful store. Sundrop Books has only been in its current location for a couple months and had previously been located in Durant OK since 2022. The store is proudly Choctaw owned and promotes indigenous voices. I loved talking to Taylor (also said hi to Amanda, another owner); I could tell how much she loved her new storefront and her joy of bringing books to her new location. Half of the store had shelves, including a cute children’s corner, and the other half had tables (which she plans to replace with shelves in the future) that featured local authors! Sundrop Books also hosts their own events. In December, the store has booked December 5th and 12th for Silent Book Club- how fun!

I enjoyed the open space and various genres to choose from. I ended up purchasing two books for myself and a book for my daughter, which we read every day. Best of all, I loved meeting a passionate owner who takes the time to talk to her customers. I hope the store continues to expand and bring more works inside its walls. 

So if you are ever in the North Texas region, stop by Sundrop Books- you won’t regret it!
